Cheese & Rice People!!!!!!!!

Librals have decended upon our fair city of Chicago and have me trapped downtown! NATO meetings are taking place in Chicago, and every time Obama comes to town all hell breaks loose! All these flash protests are getting a bit old! Please stop throwing your feces and clogging up our main streets!

Today I boarded a bus, a Metra train, and an EL train to get to work and the police presence is unreal. How much is a few thousand protesters costing the taxpayers?!

I used to be liberal in my youth, but not stupid!

Very upset over here. Hope I make it through the weekend without much fuss. Gonna just hold up in a hotel room I guess. Thank God my office is paying for it.

Over and out for now.

Pneumatic Rifles, Odd Calibers, and Odder Projectiles: Crosman 760, Sheridan Blue

As stated in PK's thread, I started with the Red Ryder as a tyke. It was my dads from the early 40s, and shot BBs in a helix. It required Kentucky windage and California reasoning to make those copper plated orbs go anywhere near the target. In its defense my dad reckoned that he had shot nearly 100,000 BBs thru it prior to being mine. Unlike myself, he is not a man of tall tale ~ and actually tends to be modest. I wouldn't be surprised if it had half again that many through it.

Then came my Crosman 760, which I received from Grandpa when I was 7. I believe that this gun lead to me being stronger with my left arm even tho I am right handed (well, maybe only part of it). It shot BBs and pellets with aplomb, even tho tho bore was smooth if I recall correctly.
A great deal of action taking down birds eating cherries in my trees was had by making a snipers hide, then loading three BBs at a time, and pumping it 12 times. This did the trick at short range when I was out of pellets.

At about age 10 I learned that if I shot the top of a strike anywhere match (as a target) with a BB it would sometimes ignite. In my infinite ridiculousness I thought "what happens when you shoot one out of the rifle?" So, I looked thru the box and picked the ones that almost fit the bore, and used my ever-present Imperial pearl handle cattle knife to whittle it down, making sure not to damage the tip. I then cut the stick short enough so that it would fit into the loading port. These would ignite about 1/3 of the time mid-air when shot at high speed, which was like alchemy to my friends and I. One day an errant match projectile, which hadn't ignited, struck our chimney. POW! It exploderated on impact!! It was at that time I moved from alchemist to grand wizard. Much fun was had, to include ass whippings when I scared my dad and subsequently set something on fire.

So, here's a basic history of the Crosman 760 if any are curious. I had the 3rd generation, BTW:
Crosman 760 was manufactured from 1964 to 1991 in 8 variations.
Original 1964 model: Continuous wood stock & forearm Developed as "Canada Boy"
1st: Variant: Continuous wood stock & forearm. 1966-70, Name dropped.
2nd: Variant: Styrene stock & forearm with scope mount grooves, 1971-74
3rd : Variant: self cocking Styrene stock, wood forearm 1974-75
4th: Variant: ABS stock & forearm 1975-77
5th: Variant: manual cocking 1977-80
6th: Variant: plastic bolt 1980-83
7th: Variant: Plastic receiver 1983-91
8th: Variant: shorter barrel, pressed on sights 1991

Looks like this:
this happens to be the new plastic fantastic everything model.

Sheridan Blue Streak has now been usurped by Benjamin and perverted with their stock configuration. Still best self contained pneumatic out there, to my knowledge

This is an older model, like what I used own (miss it dearly). This is where the weird caliber comes in, 5mm/.20 caliber. They were the first of the main stream air rifles in this caliber. Love the gun, love the heavy for bore size pellets. The Sheridan pellets were like a mini flying trash can of lead (in shape and effect) that really would beat down critters. I don't remember if I bought mine or dad gave it to me. I think that I bought it with my chore money. Anyways, this thing was as accurate as my buddies early Beeman .177 springer (non-magnum), and actually killed game better once the range went beyond 20 yards.Great gun, would love to own one again if I didn't have the injuries ~ as it is a beast to pump to max pressure on a regular basis.

Anyways, I'll stop rambling. Anybody else own either of these, or competitors models?
Amazing but true stories? PKs thread just reignited memories of my childhood. :2789:

I'm trying to build an AR15 lower, and have everything complete, except for one thing. I absolutely can NOT get the buffer tube to screw into the receiver! It will go in smoothly, and about halfway in, it starts getting tight and eventually will not turn anymore. Is this common? The threads do have the black finish on them (the same as the receiver and the buffer tube), but I didn't know if that would keep the tube from screwing in? I've tried putting it in a vice, and also greasing the threads, but nothing works. Any ideas?

What do you all think about this?

You think Greece will leave the euro?

I don't think they have enough $$ to bail out Spain.

I think this sort of shows the weakness of this sort of alliance and really the flaws of globalization.

I mean in a lot of ways it's like the housing crisis in the US. The little nations that really don't have that great of an economy could then buy goods more easily from other countries due to the common currency.

The countries making the money off the smaller countries want their economies to grow to they turn a blind eye and extend credit to them.

Then the whole thing blows up.

Rio could probably shed more light on this but it sounds like Spain could be next?

I understand that they had a huge housing boom which was mainly caused by cheap loans from German banks and then when that burst so many people were working in construction that when they lost their jobs revenue fell and now they are in DEEP DO DO.

Have you guys been following this?

I think the guy may actually get off.

Apparently it looks like the rich old lady that was bankrolling the hiding of the mistress and whose money was diverted to also build his advisor a dream home sort of gave the money to him as far as I have heard it said.

The charge is misusing campaign money but from what I'm reading the money did not go thru his campaign coffers.

So while Edwards not only is a liar and a smuck for fooling around on his wife, he also took advantage of the poor old rich lady who was bankrolling him. BUT - it looks like he may get off of the charge of misusing campaign money???

Another sidebag from me... This bike was assembled a year ago and I made the seat then... Now the owner ordered the sidebag and first I tried making something in the same colour as the seat. I took the same leather but could not fake the same colour that the seat got in a year of riding. So the first try went to garbage can (long time since that hapened to me last time). And the carving I did was not agresive enough...
So the sidebag on the bike is my second try and I tryed to keep my eye more on the bike in general than on the seat (I could be making a new seat, black & red) and it works for me now... It was very important for me to keep the whole story conected... now the seat pops out a bit, so it will be worked on... The seat has chilli pepers engraved also and it is a part of the bike no doubt but I'd like to conect it to the sidebag in the future.... we'll see

SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE DEVISED A METHOD TO COLLECT THE OFFERINGS.

THE CHURCHES SEND ALL THEIR COLLECTED CHIPS TO A NEARBY FRANCISCAN MONASTERY FOR SORTING AND THEN THE CHIPS ARE TAKEN TO THE CASINOS OF ORIGIN AND CASHED IN.

THE CHIP MONKS DO THIS. (YOU NEVER SAW IT COMING DID YOU?)

I mean far as we know we aren't going to have to bail them out so no harm done, however still shows that we need to ban naked credit default swaps.

I see nothing wrong with betting on securities and other financial instruments that you don't own as long as it is done and regulated under state gambling regs.

I see nothing wrong with buying or selling insurance on financial instruments but they should be regulated under insurance and the companies selling them should be able to have enough cash available to pay off should they go under.

This was the same stuff that put AIG under. They sold around 3 billion dollars of credit defautl swaps and then didn't have the money to cover it when they had to pay. We picked that one up.
